Operational Risk Manager (m/f/d)
About Raisin Bank
As part of the Raisin family, Raisin Bank combines the best of both worlds: the experience and security of a bank, with the flexibility and innovation of a start-up. Our team is just as diverse as our partners. If you are looking for a dynamic environment in which you can play to your strengths and develop further, then you have come to the right place!
Founded in 1973, our dynamic and innovative service bank has a full banking license and brings the decades of experience of an established German credit institution to the table. In processing both loan portfolios and receivables of selected borrowers, it combines performance strength and competent advice with efficient solutions. Since 2019, the bank has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raisin and has been operating under the name Raisin Bank AG since August 2019.Team
At RSB, our Risk Controlling team is focused on managing risk exposure across the business. We identify, evaluate, and report on key risks while supporting decision-making with data-driven analysis.
Our key responsibilities include:
Risk Management Framework : We establish and maintain a robust, group-wide risk framework aligned with Basel guidelines. This includes setting policies, procedures, and controls to identify, measure, monitor, and manage all relevant risk types.
Risk Identification & Assessment : We assess the bank’s exposure to credit, market, operational, and liquidity risks using methods such as stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk evaluations.
Risk Monitoring & Reporting : We monitor the bank’s risk profile and produce timely, accurate reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies. This includes tracking risk metrics, key indicators, and early warning signals.
Capital & Liquidity Adequacy : We evaluate capital and liquidity adequacy in line with CRR and Basel requirements. This includes oversight of capital ratios, liquidity metrics, and stress testing to ensure compliance and support the bank’s strategic objectives.
Your Responsibilities
At Raisin and RSB, we’re strengthening our second line to manage it with greater structure, clarity, and confidence. As Operational Risk Manager, you will work closely with the wider Risk Controlling team to ensure operational risks are identified, followed up on, and reported with precision and insight.
This role is about shaping how we think about operational risk: connecting regulatory expectations with our actual business, improving existing processes, and helping us move from reactive fixes to proactive controls.
- Own the operational risk lifecycle: from risk identification and assessment (RCSA, scenario analysis) through to follow-ups and loss event analysis.
- Bring structure to the chaos: proactively build and enhance operational risk controls, risk indicators, and lessons-learned practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: work with Risk Controlling colleagues (ops, credit, ESG) and the first line to embed best-practice risk governance.
- Maintain and improve our frameworks: ensure alignment with Basel III, CRR, MaRisk, and EBA expectations.
- Enhance how we report: draft risk reports for senior stakeholders that are clear, prioritised, and visually effective
- Support smarter tooling: contribute ideas to automate and improve risk tracking (Excel, Jira, and dynamic reporting tools).
- Be part of a lean team: your voice will be heard, and your work will directly impact how we build risk maturity across Raisin and RSB.
Your Profile
- 2–5 years of experience in operational risk, internal audit, risk consulting, or a closely related area in banking or financial services.
- Deep understanding of operational risk and how it differs from other non-financial risks.
- Familiarity with Basel III, CRR, MaRisk, and EBA frameworks. You do not need to be a policy expert, but you should be detail-oriented and know how to check regulatory requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of RCSA, incident management, and risk indicators.
- A structured, independent working style with a proactive mindset and a drive to improve what is already there.
- Good command of Excel and Jira. Bonus if you have worked with risk databases or dynamic reporting tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A desire to understand our business deeply. Even if you do not come from a fintech background, you are motivated to learn quickly and apply that knowledge to better risk outcomes.
- Familiarity with internal audit or ESG-related risk frameworks.
- Professional certifications (e.g. FRM, PRM) are a plus but not required.
