Tasks

We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Germany and Europe.

1. HSE Compliance & Management

• Implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and safety management systems.
• Ensure compliance with German and European HSE regulations, company standards, and client requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

2. BESS Project Site Safety

• Oversee HSE activities during BESS construction, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Manage risks related to high-voltage systems, battery fire hazards, lifting operations, and working at height.
• Review safety procedures, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.

3. Contractor Management

• Monitor contractors' and subcontractors' compliance with HSE requirements.
• Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, customers, and external safety professionals.

4. Incident Management & Reporting

• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain HSE documentation and prepare safety performance reports.

5. Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the HSE contact for German-speaking clients, contractors, and authorities.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and international teams.
• Promote a strong safety culture across European projects.

Language Requirement: Fluent German (C1 or above) is mandatory.

Profile

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience in construction, electrical engineering, renewable energy, or industrial projects.
• Fluent German (minimum C1 level) – mandatory.
• Good command of English for communication in an international working environment.
• Strong knowledge of German occupational safety regulations, including ArbSchG, DGUV regulations, and applicable European HSE requirements.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across Germany and other European countries.
• Valid driving licence (Category B).

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous HSE experience in BESS, renewable energy, energy storage, or high-voltage electrical projects.
• Relevant professional certifications in occupational health and safety.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Knowledge of battery fire safety, electrical safety, and construction site safety.
• Experience working with international EPC contractors or multinational project teams.
• Qualification as a German Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa/Sifa) is a strong advantage.
