As a Bench Scientist Biotechnology, you lead scientific work on strain development and optimization, directly supporting bioprocess R&D projects. You design and execute experiments, analyze biological data, and communicate findings clearly across multidisciplinary teams while ensuring high scientific rigor and compliance. If you enjoy hands-on biotechnology and want to drive innovative solutions with internal and external partners, we look forward to your application.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESLead scientific projects focused on strain optimization to support bioprocess R&D projectsDesign and execute molecular biology, metabolic engineering, and strain engineering experiments to develop and optimize microbial production hostsGenerate genetically engineered strains using cloning, genome editing, and pathway engineering techniquesCharacterize engineered strains through molecular, analytical, and fermentation-based assessmentsAnalyze and interpret biological data and communicate scientific findings to multidisciplinary project teamsCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams and communities (including biocatalysis, analytical sciences, biotechnology, and chemistry)Independently plan, coordinate, execute, analyze, document, and present project progress to ensure clear communication of results and insightsDrive new concepts and innovative solutions together with internal and external partnersWHO YOU ARECompleted university degree with several years of relevant experience, or a completed Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related disciplineStrong scientific track record and excellent problem-solving skillsStrong scientific and hands-on experimental expertise in molecular biology techniques, biochemistry and/or biotechnologyHands-on experience with methods such as PCR/qPCR, cloning, CRISPR or genetic engineering approaches, transformation/transfection, protein expression and purification, protein characterization, and strain engineeringExperience with different expression hosts, with an emphasis on yeastExperience with microbial cultivation or fermentation is beneficial, especially in applied research settingsDigital mindset, effective and adaptable communication skills, and a strong commitment to cross-functional collaborationExcellent English language skills required; German is a plusOur benefits package is flexible, appreciative, and tailored to your lifestyle, because: What matters to you, matters to us!
