Tasks

We are looking for a highly experienced and regulatory-savvy Director of Compliance & AML to oversee and enforce the company’s global compliance framework, anti-money laundering (AML) programs, and risk mitigation strategies. This role is critical in ensuring that Caiz operates within all applicable laws, crypto regulations, and financial crime prevention standards across jurisdictions.

As Director of Compliance & AML, you will build and lead the compliance and AML function, guide our operations through a complex regulatory environment, and serve as the primary point of contact with financial regulators and legal advisors.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage a global compliance program including AML, KYC, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring.
• Lead the development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with global crypto, financial, and data protection regulations.
• Oversee customer onboarding, verification (KYC), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and suspicious activity reporting (SAR/STR).
• Ensure all blockchain and exchange products meet jurisdictional licensing, registration, and reporting obligations.
• Serve as the main liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and law enforcement agencies.
• Conduct internal compliance training and ensure all departments follow updated legal and AML requirements.
• Monitor and analyze changing regulatory environments (e.g., FATF, EU, US, MENA, etc.) and advise on impact and implementation.
• Oversee investigations of unusual activity, fraud, and violations of company policy or applicable law.
• Work closely with Legal, Product, Finance, and Technology teams to embed compliance into product design and operations.

Requirements

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in compliance, AML, or financial regulatory roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director-level capacity.
• In-depth knowledge of global AML regulations, FATF guidelines, sanctions regimes, and cryptocurrency compliance best practices.
• Experience in building AML programs within fintech or blockchain/crypto environments.
• Strong knowledge of KYC/AML software, transaction monitoring systems, and compliance operations.
• Proven track record of regulatory interaction, including audits, inquiries, and licensing processes.
• Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE, or ICA are highly preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with crypto compliance tools (e.g., Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic).
• Familiarity with Sharia-compliant finance or ethical financial frameworks is a plus.
• Understanding of both centralized and decentralized finance operations.
• Ability to manage and scale international compliance teams in a startup environment.

Level of studies: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Language Requirements: Fluent in English
