Your role

By joining the Service Line People Advisory Services, you will become part of a growing, international team working on compliance-related software solutions in the context of Short Term Business Travel. As a Database Developer, you will contribute to the design, implementation and evolution of data-centric components that underpin our cloud-based applications and services. You will work in close collaboration with backend, frontend and business teams to ensure reliable, performant and scalable data solutions. You will typically work on the following topics:

• Designing, developing and maintaining data models and database artifacts on SAP HANA Cloud, including CDS views used by application services
• Implementing and optimizing SQL-based logic, views and queries with a focus on performance, data consistency and maintainability
• Performing benchmarks to identify optimization potentials and improvement opportunities
• Supporting backend services by enabling efficient data access patterns, including consumption via RESTful APIs
• Contributing to the modernization and continuous improvement of existing database solutions
• Working with cloud-based data storage concepts, including relational databases and complementary non-relational storage where appropriate
• Collaborating closely with backend, frontend, testing and business teams to implement end-to-end features
• Supporting build, development and operational processes related to database changes in a cloud environment (e.g. data migration)
• Gradually taking ownership of data-related components and topics

Your skillset

• Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling
• Proficiency in SQL for querying, analyzing and maintaining relational databases
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and how database systems support backend services
• Solid understanding of Git for version control
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable platforms is a plus
• Commitment to code and data quality, including testing, performance and maintainability
• Basic understanding of SCRUM and agile development methodologies
• Ability to work in a Linux or Unix-based environment (WSL)
• Basic scripting knowledge (e.g. Bash) is a plus
• First experience with SAP HANA Cloud or comparable cloud-based database platforms is a plus
• Familiarity with non-relational data storage concepts (e.g. object stores such as S3) is a plus
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript, e.g. for writing tests or supporting data-related tooling, is a plus
• Strong willingness to learn, grow and take ownership in a modern cloud and data-oriented setup
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
