An international law firm is seeking a motivated junior legal professional to join its specialist Investment Funds, Structured Finance and Financial Regulation practice in Frankfurt.

This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal, foreign associate, legal consultant, or junior lawyer with a strong interest in finance and financial services regulation to develop expertise in a highly specialised and growing area of practice.

Unlike traditional legal roles, this position sits at the intersection of law, finance, investment funds, insurance regulation and structured products. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with financial information, analysing data and understanding how legal and commercial considerations interact.

The Role

You will work closely with an experienced practitioner advising international clients on investment funds, structured finance transactions and regulatory matters affecting insurance companies, asset managers and institutional investors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting Solvency II regulatory reporting and related legal analysis
• Reviewing investment portfolios and carrying out asset classification assessments
• Assisting with capital calculations and reporting models used by insurance sector clients
• Drafting and supporting the preparation of regulatory and legal opinions
• Supporting the structuring and establishment of investment funds
• Assisting with securitisation transactions and the drafting of related financial instruments
• Coordinating information gathering and analysis for complex transactions and projects
• Reviewing and analysing financial statements, portfolio data and valuation information
• Supporting risk management and regulatory framework design projects
• Assisting with banking and financial services regulatory advice
• Collaborating with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions on cross-border matters

Who We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine legal training with a genuine interest in finance and financial markets.

You may be:

• A paralegal, legal consultant, foreign associate or junior lawyer
• A graduate with an LL.B., LL.M. or equivalent legal qualification
• A candidate pursuing qualification in Germany or another European jurisdiction
• An individual with academic or practical exposure to finance, banking, investment funds, capital markets or insurance regulation

Desired Skills & Experience

• Strong academic background in law
• Interest in corporate finance, financial services, investment funds or structured finance
• Ability to understand financial statements and financial reporting concepts
• Basic knowledge of valuation concepts and discounted cash flow (DCF) methodologies
• Good numerical skills and confidence working with figures and calculations
• Solid Excel skills and willingness to develop more advanced modelling capabilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Professional working proficiency in English
• German language skills at B2 level or above
• Collaborative and proactive approach to learning
