Communications & Growth Manager

Your mission

We're looking for someone who is great with words, comfortable with technology and AI tools, and driven by the challenge of getting the right people to notice us, whether that's employers or investors. Someone who can think across channels, write well, and make things happen without needing a lot of hand-holding.

Your profile

Core responsibilities

• Optimise our website: Improve our existing website (content, SEO, and user experience) so it works for our target audiences of employers and investors.

• German employer landing page: Write and shape a compelling German-language page for employers by going beyond translation to craft messaging that actually resonates.

• Website translation: Translate the website into German.

• Paid ads, SEO & AI search optimization (AISO): Test and learn across paid and organic channels, including AI-driven search.

These aren't hard requirements but we'd be very excited to find someone who wants to take them on too:

• Blog content: Write blog posts or come with your own ideas, supporting our team or leading independently, creating content people actually want to read and share.

• LinkedIn employer campaign: Design and run a LinkedIn campaign targeting employers with angles that stand out rather than blend into the feed.

• Investor-focused writing: Help craft investor updates and narratives that go beyond dry reporting to clear, compelling, and confidence-building.

What we're looking for

• Native in German and at least B2 English, with strong writing skills, particularly in German

• Self-starting and creative: you bring ideas nobody asked for and can make the case for why they'll work

• Experience with B2B content marketing, ideally targeting employer or HR audiences

• Solid grasp of SEO and AISO; curiosity about AI search and where it's heading

• Autonomous and resourceful: you figure things out, ship, and iterate without waiting for a detailed brief

• Motivated by early-stage conditions: limited budget, high ambition, real ownership

Nice to have

• Experience with growth marketing: finding big reach on small budgets

• Familiarity with the German employment market or HR tech space

• Experience writing investor communications or startup updates

About us

Malengo currently supports low-income, high-ability students in Uganda in applying for and completing Bachelor’s degrees, as well as refugees in Kenya and Rwanda seeking vocational training in Germany. By 2030, we aim to support students from most low-income and lower-middle income countries, and facilitate undergraduate studies in more than a dozen destination countries. Our program is sustainable through a combination of a strong network of volunteer mentors and a financial model in which students support future generations of scholars once they earn a high enough income (Income Share Agreements, ISAs).
