Technical Services Manager
About the Role
As Technical Services Manager, you will lead the safe, reliable, and high-performing operation of critical engineering infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 service resilience and alignment with Global Switch’s operational and strategic objectives. You will be accountable for the planning, control, and delivery of all primary HV/LV maintenance activities including statutory compliance and 5‑yearly inspection programmes while driving performance through effective resource planning, data-led decision-making, and continuous optimisation. The role will oversee both planned and reactive maintenance, technical incident management, and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring delivery to scope, budget, and timeline. Working cross-functionally, you will integrate technical services into wider site operations, leveraging digital tools and analytics to enhance performance, minimise risk, and support innovation. Through strong leadership, commercial awareness, and a focus on continuous improvement, you will ensure engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, and the long-term reliability and scalability of the site.
Key Responsibilities:Lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical engineering systems across the data centre, ensuring 24/7 service continuity and infrastructure resilience.
Support the implementation of scalable technical models that adapt to evolving site demands and align with Global Switch’s long-term objectives.
Drive technical service delivery by overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, monitoring system performance, and coordinating infrastructure upgrades.
Lead technical incident response and escalation procedures, embedding resilience, safety, and accountability into engineering operations.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, internal governance, and audit requirements.
Utilise digital platforms, monitoring tools, and performance analytics to inform engineering decisions and identify opportunities for optimisation.
Collaborate with Facilities, Security, Commercial, and Compliance teams to ensure technical services are integrated into broader site operations.
Translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering plans that support business continuity and customer commitments.
About you
You’re a technically strong and commercially aware engineering leader with proven experience managing critical infrastructure in complex, 24/7 environments. You thrive on ensuring reliability, performance, and safety, taking ownership of engineering operations and driving high standards across planned and reactive maintenance, incident management, and infrastructure upgrades. With a deep understanding of HV/LV systems and compliance requirements, you bring confidence and control to every aspect of technical service delivery.
You’re analytical and forward‑thinking, using data, monitoring tools, and performance insights to optimise operations, reduce risk, and improve efficiency. Comfortable working across functions, you collaborate with Facilities, Security, Commercial, and Compliance teams to ensure technical services are fully integrated into wider site operations. A natural leader, you guide teams with clarity and accountability, maintain calm under pressure, and embed a culture of continuous improvement. Above all, you’re driven to deliver engineering excellence, ensuring long‑term resilience, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
Key Requirements:Leads the implementation of site-level engineering strategies that ensure infrastructure reliability, service continuity, and alignment with long-term business objectives.
Experienced in managing complex technical operations, supporting service optimisation, and maintaining a strong focus on uptime and customer satisfaction.
Applies sound judgement in resource planning, maintenance scheduling, and technical service delivery to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
Understands how engineering performance impacts commercial outcomes and ensures alignment with regulatory standards, budget targets, and ESG commitments.
Proficient in using digital platforms, monitoring systems, and analytics to track asset performance, manage incidents, and identify opportunities for optimisation.
Leads incident response and embeds risk-aware practices into engineering operations to ensure safety, resilience, and governance.
Supports transformation initiatives and ensures technical services remain agile, efficient, and aligned with evolving site needs.
